A small studio for long nights

Vignette is four people and a print room above a wine bar in Trieste. We work for hotels, bars and restaurants, and for the people who open them with everything they have.

We started in 2015 with one menu for a bar on the harbour. The owner asked for a logo; we gave him a menu, a sign and a name for the house cocktail. He still uses all three.

Since then we have worked on sixty openings in eleven countries. We keep the studio small on purpose: the people you meet in the first meeting are the people who design, shoot and build your project.

How we work

    A night in the room

    Before any sketch we spend an evening as guests. We order, we listen, we watch where people look.

  2. 02

    One idea

    We bring a single direction, not three. One idea, argued well, with the menu and the sign already drawn.

  3. 03

    Everything that is touched

    Name, menus, website, signage, staff cards. We design the objects a guest holds, not just a logo.

  4. 04

    Opening night

    We are there when the doors open, with a camera. The first photographs of a place are the ones people remember.

01Elio SandriFounder, creative director Opened his first bar at twenty two. Closed it at twenty three. Has been drawing menus since.
02Saskia BrandtDesign director Type, print and every sign we have ever hung. Trained as a letterpress printer in Leipzig.
03Maren HoltPhotography and film Shoots only in available light. Owns more tripods than chairs.
04Kamil OduyaDigital lead Builds the websites and the booking flows. Tests every one of them on a phone, in the dark.
